Design by MCG Architects, the Margaret River Year 7 Block and upgrades is comprised of a new Year 7 learning area with food technology, five general purpose learning areas, seven activity areas, male and female toilets, universal access ablution, store rooms, a covered outdoor activity area and generous verandahs. The building was constructed of structural steel structure, double brick, metal roof cover with a combination if drywall and face brick with glazing infill.
Included in the works were adjoining link ways, fencing, landscaping, new multi sports courts, additional 24 car parking bays and infrastructure upgrades including new site main switchboard and fire pumps, booster and tanks.
The new Year 7 block is spacious, light and bright with feature brickwork and other vibrant coloured finishes that include a feature curved “wave” ceiling with glazed window highlights. The physical site location for the Block was constrained between existing buildings and infrastructure however the challenge was worth the effort as it nestles seamlessly into the existing senior high school plan. The additional multi sports courts provide further opportunities for the school community.
