• WA Cricket Association Refurbishment

The Western Australian Cricket Association commissioned James Christou & Partners Architects to redesign the State’s cricketing home ground with a vision to the future needs of a growing audience and fan base.

Works included moving the ends of the oval in, including two new grass banks to bring the viewing public closer to the action. Upgrading the Lillee Marsh Stand to become the new members area, a completely new building to house the players, increasing the seating angle to improve viewing for the fans watching from the perimeter seating, new camera platforms to both ends of the grounds and upgrading the existing media boxes.

Due to the WACA’s commitment to hold the third Ashes Test, the completion date of the contract was fixed and could not be extended under any circumstances, which was a tremendous challenge, considering construction was mainly during the winter season.
